What’s the big deal about Malaysia’s latest presidential poll?

The Malaysian government has announced the results of its latest presidential election, which will be held in February 2019.

Malaysia has been under a dictatorship since 1963, when it became a republic after the 1965 military coup that ousted dictator Sukarno.

Under the new constitution, the president will be elected by a secret ballot.

However, Malaysia’s Constitutional Court has blocked a number of constitutional amendments in the past, including one to increase the number of MPs and increase the powers of the president.
