He is the third person to be killed by a gunman at a congressional hearing in less than a week.
CNN reported Thursday that police are investigating whether the shooting was related to the House GOP’s investigation into the 2016 presidential election.
Sources told CNN that the House Republicans are still trying to determine whether the gunman was motivated by politics.
The suspect was identified as a 20-year-old man who was shot by Capitol Police officers in the hallway of the Capitol on the Capitol grounds and died from his injuries.
A motive has not been determined.
The FBI is investigating the incident.
A congressional aide told CNN the suspect was a former employee of the Congressional Republican Caucus.
